Uterine Polyp & Fibroid Removal
In some women, uterine fibroids and polyps can exists with no external symptoms. In other women they can cause many frustrating and uncomfortable issues, including: heavy menstrual bleeding, menstrual periods lasting more than a week, pelvic pain, pressure in the pelvis, frequent urination, difficulty emptying the bladder, constipation, and even back and leg pain.
At Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates we are proud to offer a state-of-the-art minimally invasive surgery called MyoSure Hysteroscopic Myomectomy to remove fibroids and polyps.
MyoSure enables the surgeon to remove any growths within the uterus, while preserving the uterus. This is important for women who want to have children in the future. Leaving the uterus intact also prevents the woman from going into “early menopause” and requiring harsh hormone replacement therapy.
During MyoSure Myomectomy the surgeon inserts a slim, tiny camera into the vagina, past the cervix, allowing her to see inside the uterus. Next, a thin surgical wand is passed through the vagina into the uterus that is used to gently cut the fibroid or polyp into tiny pieces. The wand also has a suction opening that removes the destroyed tissue from the uterus.
Minimally invasive MyoSure removes polyps and fibroids with significantly less pain, smaller incisions, less scarring and a lower risk of infection than traditional fibroid removal surgery. And the recovery time is much shorter – so the patient can get back to her normal activities in a week or less.

Uterine polyps are protrusions of tissue that grow on the uterine lining (endometrium). Polyps form when the same kind of cells as the lining itself start growing abnormally. They can range in size from a few centimeters (the size of a small seed) up to the size of a golf ball. Over time, they can become fragile and bleed.
Our experienced gynecologists and surgeons offer the most advanced diagnostic treatments to determine if there are polyps located inside the uterus (endometrial polyps).
The MyoSure hysteroscopic tissue removal procedure can remove fibroids, polyps, and other intrauterine tissue without having to remove the uterus – preserving a woman’s ability to conceive and bear future.
Uterine fibroids are almost always benign growths made of the same smooth muscular tissue of the uterus (the myometrium). When those muscle cells grow abnormally, they can form into a firm, rubbery mass that protrudes from surrounding tissue.
A woman may have single or multiple fibroids. They can grow slowly, quickly or remain the same size – they can even shrink on their own. They can also range in size, from a tiny seed to a large mass the size of a grapefruit. Fortunately, uterine fibroids rarely, if ever, develop into cancer.
We offer state-of-the-art Hysteroscopic MyoSure Myomectomy to remove fibroids while leaving the uterus intact so that the patient is able to continue to bear children.
