Hysterectomy
A hysterectomy is a surgical procedure that removes a woman’s uterus – the “womb” where a baby is carried during pregnancy.
A hysterectomy may be performed to treat a variety of women’s health issues, including: fibroids, endometriosis, heavy or abnormal bleeding, uterine prolapse, chronic pelvic pain, or cancer of the uterus or cervix.
A partial hysterectomy removes only the uterus, leaving the cervix. A total hysterectomy removes both the uterus and the cervix. In some cases a hysterectomy may also include removal of one or both ovaries and fallopian tubes.
Our skilled and experienced gynecologic surgeons offer the latest, most advanced hysterectomy techniques, including: minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery (through a tiny incision in the navel); and daVinci robotic surgery.
These state-of-the-art, minimally-invasive hysterectomy techniques offer the advantage of smaller incisions, significantly less pain, less blood loss, and a much shorter recovery time. Additionally laparoscopic and robotic hysterectomies offer a lower risk of infection as well as proven better clinical outcomes!
