Proper prenatal care is necessary for mom and baby’s wellbeing during pregnancy and delivery – and will go a long way toward ensuring that your baby is born healthy. Prenatal Care for a Healthy Baby
It is important to start getting prenatal care as soon as possible once you know you’re pregnant. Our obstetricians will monitor your baby’s development and conduct routine testing – including ultrasounds – to ensure proper growth, as well as to identify any issues and head off potential problems.
Regular prenatal checkups are also a great time to learn how to deal with the many changes your own body is experiencing, such as weight gain, morning sickness, or other discomfort.
The typical prenatal care schedule for healthy women between the ages of 18 and 35 years old is every 4 to 6 weeks for the first 32 weeks; every 2 to 3 weeks for the 32nd through 37th weeks; and then every week from the 37th week until the delivery. More frequent prenatal checkups may be recommended for women with health concerns or high-risk pregnancy.
