C Sections
Approximately 30% of all babies in the U.S. are born via C-section. Sometimes C-sections are planned – while other times the decision is made during delivery that a C-section is a better option for mom and baby.
When performed by an experienced obstetrician, C-sections are extremely safe for mothers and babies. But a C-section is still a major surgery that should only be performed by a skilled, board certified obstetrician. Whether your C-section is planned, or a sudden medically necessary decision made during childbirth, you can trust the qualified obstetricians at Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates.
Choosing an obstetrician is an extremely important and personal decision. When you choose Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates you can feel confident knowing that you and your baby will always receive the highest level of medical care, in a compassionate, nurturing and understanding environment.

C-Section “Cesarean” Delivery
C-section – short for “cesarean delivery”- is a type of surgery used to deliver a baby through an incision in the abdomen and uterus, rather than through the vagina. C-sections are often planned ahead of time, due to pregnancy complications, or for women who have previously delivered via C-section.
In other cases, need for a C-section isn’t determined until labor is underway, and it’s determined that a C-section will be safer for mother or baby than vaginal delivery.
Abnormal baby position, placenta previa, a prolapsed umbilical cord, multiple babies, or a baby in distress during delivery are just some of the reasons your obstetrician may decide that a C-section is the best delivery method for you.
Our obstetricians have delivered hundreds of healthy babies via Cesarean delivery. If you have questions about C-section, schedule an appointment with us today.
